OpenAI Launches GPT-4
OpenAI has officially declared the widespread accessibility of GPT-4 via its API for current developers. The declaration further mentions that access will be extended to new developers by the conclusion of this month, with subsequent expansion of availability limits depending on compute availability.
GPT-4 can generate textual content, including code, and it can handle inputs in the form of both images and text. It marks an improvement over its predecessor, GPT-3.5, which could only process text inputs.
GPT-4 matches human performance on professional and academic tasks. It was trained on publicly available web data and licensed content, similar to previous OpenAI GPT models.
The company release also announced the general availability of GPT-3.5 Turbo, DALL·E, and Whisper APIs, but it will be available later this year as the fine-tuning is in progress. DALL-E 2 is an OpenAI’s image-generating model, and “Whisper” is the company’s speech-to-text model.
Threads Received 100 Million Users in 5 Days
Instagram’s Threads app, considered a competitor of Twitter, has already surpassed 100 million users in just 5 days. It has reached this target faster than even ChatGPT. OpenAI’s ChatGPT has crossed this milestone after two months.
It is tied to your Instagram account, so you can create an account by logging in using your Instagram credentials.
As it is tied to Instagram, you can use your Instagram login information to create an account with Threads.
As per the report from Theverge, the users are not just signing up, but they have posted 95 million posts and 190 million likes shared.
At present, the Threads application lacks functionalities such as direct messages (DMs), a reverse-chronological feed for following, and a planned integration with the decentralized ActivityPub protocol. Furthermore, certain anticipated features necessary to rival the well-established Twitter platform are absent:
- A “Following” feed
- Support for GIFs
- Full web version support
- Editing posts
- Inline translation
- Support for user-generated Alt image text
- Hashtags
